Dr. Chad Lakey grew up in eastern NC gaining vast experience in both large and small animal medicine. He graduated from N.C. State in 2004 with a degree in Animal Science with the intention of pursuing a career as a swine veterinarian.
Dr Mary Vogel started her college education at Duke University until her grandmother gave her the advice: 'That the only worthwhile doctor is a veterinarian'. She completed her undergraduate degree of Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at NCSU in 1985 and received her DVM from NCSU-CVM in 1989. Dr Vogel was an associate veterinarian in Durham, NC until moving to this area in 1994. After several years of practicing as a relief veterinarian, she established Shallowford Animal Hospital in Lewisville in 1998. (Her last name then was Hitchcock). Dr Vogel took the opportunity to step away from full-time practice to raise her twins Katie and Will. Now that they are sophomores in college, she has returned to the profession her grandmother knew she would love.
In her spare time, Dr Vogel enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, biking, fishing with her brothers and reading a good library book by the water.
